This is a note of deep gratitude. We are living through a time of chaos and uncertainty. Months of dealing with a global pandemic, amid ongoing crises of poverty, hunger and substance use disorder. An uptick in violence and stress. Fears and uncertainty about evictions and immigration status, long-term unemployment and underemployment, etc. The anxiety of these times surely crisis reaches into every corner of our city. No life is immune from the stress of the moment. The friends and families we serve through the Good Samaritan Ministry are especially vulnerable.
Although we have needed to impose severe restrictions to protect the safety of our those we serve as well as our volunteers, Monica's Kitchen is open and we continue to offer groceries to those in need. As anticipated, the problem of hunger has increased, and more of our neighbors have experienced food emergency. But we remain open because of you. Because of your compassion and generosity our pantry is well-stocked and we are ready to meet the challenge of the moment.
