Rev. Peter DeFazio is Pastor of the South Boston Catholic Collaborative and Rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage in the Boston Seaport.

Rev. Peter F. DeFazio

Fr. Peter DeFazio was born and raised in Waltham, Massachusetts where he attended the ethnic Italian parish, Sacred Heart. Peter is one of five children born to Joseph and Sarah DeFazio.

As a child, Peter’s family moved to Watertown, where he attended the public school system. Their family parish continued to be Sacred Heart.

Peter’s academic and employment career took him in some different directions. He served honorably in the US Army National Guard and earned both a B.A. as well an M.A. from UMass/Boston.

Following a long career with the US Dept. of Labor, as Fr. Peter deepened his faith life, the Lord called him to be applying for the seminary. Given his relatively older age and career experience, Fr. Peter was admitted to Pope Saint John XXIII National Seminary. He was ordained along with eight other men by Cardinal Sean Patrick O’Malley in 2014.
