The St. Monica Good Samaritan Ministry at Monica's Kitchen is a Catholic ministry of hope and healing in South Boston. We support individuals and families who are often overlooked by others. Violence, poverty, oppression, and other injustices often isolate individuals and families from the blessing of a safe and welcoming community.
In addition to helping meet the demands of daily life, we provide a spiritual home to those we are privileged to serve and strive to affirm their sacred dignity in every encounter.
PEACE MINISTRY: Our community peace meals nourish hungry hearts and spirits and strengthen the bonds of compassion and concern in the neighborhood we share.
RECOVERY MINISTRY: Monica's Kitchen is a sanctuary for those seeking recovery from addiction. We host Twelve Step meetings twice daily and offer spiritual support to those in recovery and to families and friends who have lost a loved one to addiction.
FOOD SECURITY MINISTRY: We provide groceries to over 300 families and offer emergency food support to our hungry and homeless neighbors.
SCHOLAR-SERVANTS: We nourish the academic and spiritual development of children and teens from our vulnerable neighborhood by providing tuition support to attend Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Boston.
CROSSING THE ROAD: We journey to the street corners and other hidden places in our neighborhood where those suffering with savage opioid addiction suffer in isolation, offering hope and spiritual support.
